Honoring Kate Hahn
Kate’s courage, humor, fierce loyalty, and unapologetic joy left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her. A historian, advocate, library champion, roller coaster enthusiast, and friend to all - Kate lived boldly and loved deeply. She famously reminded others:“You may be afraid of a needle, but I was afraid to die.”Her advocacy for blood donation quite literally saved lives. Also, Kate was recognized at Vitalant's Valetine for Life event on February 13. Kate’s family was in attendance, and her father came up on stage to receive the Bill Shover Leadership Award in her honor and in recognition of all of her work encouraging blood donations during her many years of treatments and battling cancer. Her is her testimonial:
To honor Kate:
Acustom benchwill be installed at the White Mountain Campus (WMC) as a place for reflection and connection. AnNPC Blood Drive will be held April 1at WMC, in recognition of her advocacy and encouragement to donate blood in her memory.
Kate’s obituary beautifully captures herspirit, her love of family, Hello Kitty, roller coasters, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and the enormous circle of friends she gathered everywhere she went. As one friend said,“A massive Kate-shaped hole has been left and I'm not sure they make a Hello Kitty stickerbandaidbig enough to protect it.”
